Walk In

Last week I just walk in into Air Puteh MPK club & HTAA Club. The level of the players are higher than my club. At MPK, I play 3 chinese guys and lost all my games. At HTAA I played with a chinese penholder and a pimple malay player. The result was I lost all games to them. Even I lost my games I still gain experience for better future.

No pain, No gain.

Control

Recently I stress on control game. I just try to keep balls on table when not in good position for attacking. With added some slow spinny spin it is safe enough to keep the game going. I got more point with this strategy. Before I use to be all attack or all defence only. Mixing the attack-defence depend on play situation give me better chance of winning. I need control my emotion not to over hit and not too rush for ball. My friend tip is 'one breath for one stroke not hold my breath for stroke'. It mean that I have to allow more time before executing a stroke. No need to rush because it is yours now.

My practice game shows better improvement. Win against mtudm, on par with mn and first win against mpoli is the best result so far. Areas to be improved are bh topsin attack, loop and serve received.

Sukan Polisas(Staff)

I registered for pingpong single n double(with suhardi).

Single
First round I won 2 and lost 1(to man) and qualify for quarter final. Sadly my opponent was mudin pimple. I lost 1-3 to him. The short balls using pimple get me in trouble. I still dont know how to deal with it.

Double
Qualified for semi-final and lost to mi/rafik. Safe method did not help us and we lost 1-3 to the duo.

Reflective
Double against mudin/taufik I lost balance when try hitting hard high ball. I fell and injured my left wrist. This is not first time I got injured during tournament. Last time at the same place , I hurt my knee and ankle. At dewan taman berjaya permai I also got cramp and got my ankle injured. Is it my technics or emotional control problems. After this tournament my game look like going downward.

Tenergy 05 both side

After almost 2 months rest, I start playing again. This time with both T05 fh & bh. New black 2.1 mm tenergy is on my fh and the red one in bh. It take time to adjust to the the rubber. In practice match the results did not show big difference:
1. vs mn(1:3)
2. vs an(1:3)
3. vs ln(3-1, 2-3)
4. vs dn(3-1)

From those matches, I lost many points due to the 'gopoh' especially when dealing with high balls.
I should control my emotion and carefully apply correct stroke by watching ball paths. I lost many game before because of this behavior. Other thing is l need to give some time , slower, more horizontal stroke to lift/loop backspin ball.

back to tenergy 05 backhand

Xiom Vega pro bubble and not sticking to bat when using butterfly water-based glue. Remove it and put my old black T05 1.9mm tenergy on TBS. Game did not change much but ball goes higher. Here are comparison between T05 and XVP

1. serve: didnot serve using bhand
2. serve return: shorter but higher, harder and affected by spin. flip serve better(more bite)
3. chop/push:spinnier
4. less control on bhand
5. block; faster
6. loop; better
7. smash/punch block: harder

I dont know whether my game improve or not. From practice matches , the result stay pretty much the same.
vs an: 0-4
vs hazlee: 3-3
vs m.nor: 2-3, 3-2
vs firdaus; 3-2
vs fairuz; 3-2
vs syahir:1-3

Power is not everything

Try to play aggressive and power, but deny control. It may worked against some guys but not for another. Against MN 3-3 draw(attack all out- attack serve from bh and fh, fast serve: work well).
Against AN(0-4): He played very controlled looping game and attack when chance arise from good setup. My power play did not work. He outplayed me in many aspects.
Serve -create pop up or bad return from me.
serve return- fh push to my bh , hard to attack and end up hitting net
- attack my short no spin ball to his fh.
- my fast serve to his body is his weakness that I could attack.
3rd ball attack- spinny high arc loop to my bh. I better stay close to table.
counter looping- he can counter my attack far from table with spinny sidespin. I have advantage in this area if I can control my looping.

From last night game, I concluded that spin is not my strength. My strength come from fast stroke/serve followed by fast attack. However this method is very risky because I also open to opponent attack. I did not feel good because I can not develop other technics beside hit/smash.
I need more control, anticipation, placement, spin variation to be more consistence player.

Agressive Play

Last monday I practiced matches with 3 members club. Lost all to them.
Pok L (1-3)
Shortpip used make ball heavier. Easy for him to take my serves so less pop up for my points. Should take ball little bit late when dealing with this pip ball like playing with long pip(did work last time). He is more aggresive than me. Lack of aggressiveness is the key to my lost. Record with him now even (2-2)

mjkr(2-3)
Normally I beat this guy, but he was more aggressive this time. Control/def game did not work . Need more attacking game.

Norab(2-4)
retriever/lobber player. Hard to kill the high balls mixed with sidespin/bspin or topspin. This guy can return smash/hit very well. His weakness: fast sidespin serves to body and fh and ready to attack the return.

Xiom Vega Pro(max)

Got new rubber vega pro and used it for backhand. So far it is the best bh rubber for me. I can put more balls on table compared to tenergy. However tenergy has more bite and spin on opening bh loops. Block, punch and counter is faster using this rubber compared to palio macro era. My backhand is more dangerous than before.

Practice match with club member(better player) become more competitive. I also won some matches against them. Two player that i still cannot beat are our no.1 in club and a retriever/lobber.

New Rubber Again?

Thinking of buying new rubber for bhand. Palio Macro Era 42.5 deg max seem to be very soft. Active block on speedy ball goes to the net. Other than that this rubber is very good. Maybe I need new rubber. PME is already 8 month old. Take back my old tenergy 1.9 for bhand. hard and feel the ball hit the bat. Changing to the rubber made my game more unstable.

So rubber that i would like to consider based on several review on website is:
1. Palio Thor- tacky, hard. spinny- still not available in malaysia
2. Xiom omega IV pro -Rm 130

Back to Previous Setup

After a month using LP on bh, I decided to go back to my previous setup. Playing LP isn't so easy. It need more time to master. I dont think I have the time. At the beginning, you may win more games but once your opponent get used to it, you will get trouble unless you really have mastered the skill. So I switch back to To5/PME. but before that I tried PME on fh and findings are:
1. PME good for hitting/smash
2. flat trajectory
3. away from table looping
4. hard to loop backspin
