Loop

Last night learn to loop fh & bh. For slow ball it ok do controll loop against Hj. Din. It was last session before ramadan. I'll take a break for about a month and start again after aidil fitri.

Game
vs mie JKR(2-3)
Lead 2-0 but lost the next 3 sets. Main problem was return serves from bh. Try to bh loop/flick but didnot work. Bh push short/chop get spinny loop from him. Need to work on bh serve loop or fast push or fh return.

vs Hj Din(4-0)
Looping practice begin. Stay away from table and control loop from fh & bh work fine. His bh smash didnot work this time. My style totally different from drive/smash to control loop. This style make me more relax and can control ball position. I dont know whether it also work on other player or not. Against this guy was okay because he can not handle high spinny ball.

vs Mat nor(1-4)
Fist game were great but after that I lost control. His fast near table attack kill my mid distance style. Should I play near table or mid-distance? Play near table will limit looping capability and need more agressive. Main problems were:
1. Some serves get attacked
2. Some serve return were high from bh side
3. Short game- I stay too far from table
4. Too much defend- need to attack more
5. No controll loop were applied.

Fourth session with T05 backhand

fh serve- get some improvement and some points(varying serve)
receive- both fh & bh getting ok. need to flick/opening loop on bh( with T05 not suceed yet but effective with heavy push/chop)
attack- on table attack/flick getting better, need to attack to bh.
block- block near table ok but away from still using passive block
counterhit/loop- need more of these shots instead of passive block on both fh & bh. On bh using T05 shots did not land on table.
loop- some fh loop near table land on table of fh opponent, try to land on bh opponent next time

Friendly Match with Taman Tas

Ten Taman Tas Player came to Berjaya Permai for friendly match. Eight of them are chinese. Game were well organized and the result TBP lost 4-7 in single and 1-3 in doubles. However their top players lost to our pimple master Din Pos.
I lost 2-3 to Chinese and 0-3 to Safri(I won last session). This is not bad because that only my 3rd session with setup G2/T05. T05 on backhand need more practice especially against long pip player(Safri & Din Pos). Last session when I used T05/G2 I won against these guys.
When played with Din Post, I lost 0-2. Forehand receive and smash good but backhand return with T05 create pop up or hit net. Fast topspin/side spin serves still effective for third ball kill.
Against Hamzuri I won 3-2. My strength were serve low, serve sidespin wide to his backhand and fast to his body. Chopping return serve using To5 make him hard to loop.
Using G2 on forehand away from table I tend to block or defend only. I have less confident to counterhit or counterloop using this rubber compared with T05. Maybe because of softer feel and less spin created by this rubber.
Overall- T05 is geting better in my backhand but need practice on backhand loop. Forehand I need to work on counterloop/counterhit away from table.

Close Table

Last night I played close to table and apply more aggresive stroke. Forehand stroke very good however backhand showed some weaknesses. Here are results of my games against members club.

vs Hazlee(1-4)
Overall good game. This guy good at hit away from table and placing the ball far left and far right. Play close to table need fast reaction from both backhand and forehand and also good footwork. I need to stress on footwork and backhand strokes near the table. Maybe take the ball early/off bounce for better backhand. To play this guy(away from table hitter) I need fast block near table.

vs Mazlan (3-0)
The only game I won last night. Key: serves, attack serve return, attack serve and good return. Many of his smashes hit net.

vs Zuri(1-3)
Good game. This time I was more agressive by counterhit his loops. Eventhough many of them were misses, but this affect him to adjust his loops directions. Counterloops became more interesting. However his backhand strokes very effective for many points. My serves also got loop from his backhand. It is better to loose with more agressive strokes than loosing with passive stroke(block away from table). Maybe in short terms I won by using passive stroke but in long term short game/close to table will get some advantages. His serves and spinny loops were the key of his strength. I need to work on serve return and counterloop.

Friendly Game with POLISAS Team

The Game was held on 7 August 2009 at TBP

Single

TBP vs POLISAS (4-4)

Double
TBP vs POLISAS(1-3)

I was not play, just be the organizer.

Last monday played with Hamzuri(3-2), Mazlan (3-1) & Hj Din(3-2). I won all the games.

Reflextive:
1. Block were good but need to be more aggresive stroke such as counterhit or counterloop or punch block against Hamzuri.
2. Serve receive need to varied not just short pushes. eg. opening loop, fast push.
3. Tried receive serve to my left by using forehand push. Sometimes ball pop up from my bad push. Need more practice.
4. Game pattern influenced by Hj. Din(hit and block). Need more looping.

Confuse Again

Last night I played with Hazlee & Mie Sulong but the feel was not like last session which felt so great. I felt very lazy and not serious this time. Play with Hazlee , my emotion was not so good. I lost 0-4. With setup G2/T05 below are my findings:
1. Serves with G2 didnot get chance to attack.
2. Some serve still got points.
3. He was more agressive.
4. I was very passive.
5. Receives serve and block with T05 off table( due to spin)

vs Mie Sulong(3-4)
1. Chop his serve with T05 got many points.
2. Serves getting points.
3. Game were mainly on table(push, chop- not open)
4. His loops better than mine
5. I rarely attack, just positioning ball.
6. Opportunity for forehand attack were limited. Some attacked drive got blocked.
7. Backhand drive/loop good.

Last session with G2/T05 felt so great. But this time the feeling is reversed. This make me to consider setup T05/G2 back. Below are pro and con. of these setup:

G2/T05
1. faster forehand drive
2. good backhand chop and loop using T05
3. good for away from table
4. bad on receive spinny ball from backhand
5. Hard to loop from forehand
6. No imrovement on forehand but better on backhand.

T05/G2
1. Serve spinner
2. Looping forehand easy
3. Looping backhand is harder on G2.
4. Forehand smash/kill slower
5. backhand block better
6. backhand receive serve with G2 need adjustment(loop, push fast or flick)
7. Longer rally.
8. good for close table game
9. Learning T05 on forehand and little progress on backhand(G2 loop)

Now, I'm confused again which setup to choose. However I will play T05/G2 setup on next friendly match with POLISAS Team.

Setup G2(max)/T05(1.9mm)

Last session change to G2/T05 because T05 on forehand a bit slow and no good for away from table stroke.

Forehand(T05)
1. T05 spinnier but less speed
2. serve spinnier
3. Higher arc, better topspin
4. Feel hard
5. smash- G2 better

Backhand(T05)
1. good opening loop
2. better chop/push(spinnier)
3. better receive serve( less bouncy)

T05/G2 Review

Forehand(T05)
- spinnier
- smash need adjustment
- block away from table got to net
- serve-better
-receive serve- low and good.
- loop:getting better

Backhand(G2)
-receives serve
chop good, flip and opening loop not so good. return ball get attacked.
-block: good
- Control: good

Using this setup I lost to mie sulong and mie JKR(I used to win before). Main problem is receive serve from backhand. The return easy to get attacked.
Current status I only win against Hj Din & Syed. Winning is not my main target but I need to improve on some strokes. The stroke are:
1. Returning serve- flip & open loop.
2. Opening Loop
3. Forehand stroke from backhand to backhand opponent.
4. More aggresive and attack
